Kia has launched the Sorento in India at an introductory ₹27.99 lakh (ex-showroom), slotting its flagship three-row SUV in above the Carens and Carnival and lining it up against the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron, Jeep Meridian and Toyota Fortuner.
Two powertrains, both automatic
The range opens with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong hybrid making a combined 230hp and 380Nm through a six-speed automatic. The alternative is the 2.2-litre diesel with 193hp and 442Nm, paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive reserved for the HTX trims and above.

- HTK: from ₹32.49 lakh (hybrid) / ₹33.99 lakh (diesel)
- HTX AWD: from ₹37.49 lakh (hybrid) / ₹38.99 lakh (diesel)
- HTX(A) AWD: up to ₹40.19 lakh for the six-seat diesel
Six-seat captain-chair layouts sit roughly ₹20,000 above the equivalent seven-seat bench versions, and are offered from HTK upwards.
What you get
Kia has loaded the Sorento with twin 12.3-inch displays, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker Bose system, ventilated 10-way powered front seats and a Gen AI voice assistant. Safety runs to 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera and Level 2+ ADAS on the variants marked with an A. Drive modes cover Normal, Eco, Sport and Smart, with terrain modes added on the all-wheel-drive cars.
Prices are introductory, so expect them to move once the initial allocation is through.
