Maruti Suzuki launches the facelifted Baleno today, the first significant update to the Nexa hatchback since 2022. It continues against the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz, with prices expected to open somewhere around ₹6.8 lakh (ex-showroom).
New face, familiar shape
The changes are concentrated at the front: a new grille and reworked bumpers along the lines of the Brezza facelift, plus new alloy wheel designs and a revised colour palette. The rear is largely carried over, C-shaped LED tail lamps and roof spoiler included.
Cabin and features
The dashboard architecture stays, with the free-standing touchscreen, three-spoke wheel and dual-pod cluster, but Maruti has added new colour schemes and mood lighting. The notable additions are a wireless phone charger and ventilated front seats, alongside the existing 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, head-up display and cruise control.
Safety
Level 1 ADAS functions and front parking sensors join a package that already includes six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, a 360-degree camera and ISOFIX mounts.
Engines
The Baleno is expected to move to Suzuki’s Z-series 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol with a five-speed manual or AMT, with the CNG option continuing. Reported output figures vary ahead of launch, so treat the numbers doing the rounds as provisional until Maruti publishes the spec sheet.
