June 2025 was a month which brought with it a mix of positive & negative highlights for the Indian automobile industry. The month saw an overall Year-On-Year (YOY) decline of 6.4%, and major players like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai & Tata saw a sharp YOY decline in sales. COntrary to these brands, few brands like Mahindra, Toyota and MG Motors saw a positive YOY growth. However, like most other months, SUVs did perform really well. 5. Popular SUVs of June – Tata Punch
The Punch has been performing really well in sales charts on a consistent level. For those who don’t know, the Tata sold over 2.02 units of the Punch & broke Maruti’s 40-year streak. SUV style, high seating stance, availability of CNG option and solid build quality are the top reasons which make the Punch a popular choice. For reference, Tata sold 10,446 units of the Punch this June.
4. Tata Nexon
The Nexon, just like the Punch, has been a really strong player for Tata. Tata sold 11,602 units of the Nexon (ICE + EV) in June 2025. This compact SUV has consistently given tough competition to its rivals. With availability of features like ventilated seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, 360-degree HD camera and multiple powertrain & gearbox options, the Tata Nexon does turn out to be a compelling package.

This one is really surprising. The Scorpio and Scorpio N are proper SUVs and definitely cost more than other cars on this list; but have still managed to make a place in the top 5 list. Mahindra sold a total of 12,740 units of the Scorpio (Scorpio Classic + Scorpio N) this June. Butch road presence, capable powertrains and availability of modern features really give the Scorpio nameplate a strong backing.

The Brezza needs no introduction in the market. It has been a strong contender and has cemented Maruti’s presence in the compact SUV segment. Also, availability of top-notch features have helped the Brezza give tough competition to its rivals. Maruti sold 14,507 units of this compact SUV in June.

The Creta was the best-selling car of June 2025. Hyundai, despite losing its second spot, has always seen strong passion for the Creta. The Creta turns out to be a great overall package if we take into consideration what it has on offer in relation with its price. Hyundai managed to sell 15,786 units of the Creta this June.
