For Indians, SUV means Fortuner! And we don’t blame anyone as the Fortuner has been the king of the segment since decades. It is one of the few 7-seater SUVs which is based on a ladder-on-frame platform and offers hard-core off-road capabilities. The SUV is also known for its powerful diesel engine, however, it is an expensive product that lacks premium appeal. Now while everyone was waiting for a facelift, Toyota decided to bring in its hybrid technology. Today, let’s take a look at Toyota Fortuner Hybrid Launch!
Toyota Fortuner Hybrid Launch

So after a long wait, Toyota has finally launched the Fortuner Hybrid in India. The hybrid tech has been made available with both – the regular Fortuner and the Legender. Pricing-wise, Toyota has launched the Fortuner Hybrid for Rs 53.89 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), whereas the hybrid Fortuner Legender has been priced at Rs 60.36 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Both these models have been launched under Neo Drive nomenclature. Bookings are already open while the deliveries are scheduled to start from 3rd week of June 2025.
Engine Specs

Toyota has launched the hybrid tech with the same 2.8-litre diesel engine. This unit is capable of producing 202bhp & 500Nm of peak torque. Talking about the hybrid tech, the engine will come paired with a 48V battery. Now, this is not a strong hybrid powertrain like the Innova Hycross. It is a mild hybrid technology which will help the Fortuner in offering improved mileage and better engine refinement.Â
Toyota Fortuner Hybrid Launch – What Else?

Along with the new hybrid tech, Toyota is also offering a couple of new features. The list includes – smart idle start/stop, 360-degree camera, wireless phone charger, traction control and Neo Drive boost-assist. Apart from these, the Fortuner and the Legender remain unchanged. It gets all the features from the regular models and the design is also exactly the same. Oh, but you do get ‘Neo Drive’ badging on the exterior!
