The Maruti Baleno has been a segment-leader ever since it was launched in India in 2015. Even though it has been a segment-leader, the Baleno was mocked for years for its poor build quality. Many people even went to the extent of calling it a ‘Tin Can’. The internet is filled with videos of the Baleno’s body panels getting dented just with a tennis ball’s hit. However, times have changed. The Maruti Baleno is no more a tin can and this hatchback is now safer than before. Let’s know more about the Maruti Baleno 2025.
Maruti Baleno 2025 – Safer Than Ever
Maruti has taken a major decision when it comes to the Baleno. After loading its cars like the Alto K10, Wagon R, Eeco, etc. with 6 airbags (standard), Maruti has finally decided to offer 6 airbags as standard on the Baleno as well. We recently did a story mentioning how the Toyota Glanza now gets 6 airbags but the Baleno doesn’t. However, that has changed now.
One thing to note here is that Toyota did not hike the prices of the Glanza even after making 6 airbags standard on its hatchback while Maruti has hiked the prices of the Baleno by 0.5%. The Baleno now ranges between Rs 6.73 lakh and Rs 9.96 lakh (ex-showroom). Still, safety has to be the priority and Maruti Baleno 2025 is now a great option.
Apart from this update, Maruti had scored 4-stars in Bharat NCAP a few weeks ago, clearly distancing itself from the ‘Tin Can’ club. All in all, Maruti Baleno 2025 has become a safer option for buyers, starting from the base variant.
Another Important Update
Along with the Baleno, Maruti has also offered 6 airbags as standard on the Ertiga, but with a price hike of 1.4%. The Ertiga now ranges between Rs 9.09 lakh and Rs 13.44 lakh (ex-showroom). However, do note that the Maruti XL6 is yet to get 6 airbags as standard. Apart from the XL6, the Fronx, Ignis and S‑Presso are yet to get 6 airbags as standard.
