Maruti Brezza Rival Details
According to the latest media reports, Mahindra is working on a strong hybrid setup for a few of its SUVs. The first one to get this strong hybrid setup is said to be the Mahindra XUV 3XO. The Indian SUV giant is set to pair the 1.2-litre petrol engine of the 3XO with a battery pack. This strong hybrid system will help the 3XO deliver impressive mileage figures.
How will this system work?
Similar to what we have seen with the Maruti Grand Vitara, the engine and the battery on the Mahindra 3XO are expected to work jointly or independently, based on the situation, in order to deliver better fuel efficiency.
From what we have seen with the Grand Vitara, the strong hybrid setup works in three ways –
- Firstly, at low speeds, all the power comes from the battery pack to offer smooth, silent operation of the car, that too without lag.
- In the second case, when more power is required, the engine and the battery pack work jointly to offer better acceleration, that too without compromising the mileage.
- Third, at highway speeds, only the engine works, with the battery pack taking the back seat, and charging while braking. The car decides what combination to use on its own to deliver the best mileage possible.
Mahindra will aim to use this technology to boost the sales of the XUV 3XO and give it an edge in its segment. Interestingly, the Mahindra XUV 3XO will become the first car in its segment to offer this technology once launched. This will make the XUV 3XO a really strong Maruti Brezza rival.
Apart from its direct rivals, the strong hybrid setup will help the 3XO target the Maruti Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The Mahindra XUV 3XO comes loaded with modern features and the addition of this technology will help it market itself as a fuel-efficient option.
