Kia Is About To Do What Maruti Couldn’t With This Car!

Most segments that Maruti enters, it takes no time for it to become the segment-leader. However, there are a few segments that Maruti hasn’t set foot in and this is when rivals have taken the lead; the biggest example being the EV segment. Well, this is exactly what is going to happen again. The Kia Carens Clavis EV is about to launch soon and this is a missed opportunity for Maruti. Let’s discuss the details.

Kia Carens Clavis EV – Launch Details

KIA CARENS CLAVIS EV RANGE

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is set to launch in two days, on 15th July. This will be a big deal for Kia since the Carens Clavis EV will be the first electric 7-seater in its segment and will look to eat into the sales of the Maruti Ertiga and Maruti XL6.

The closest indirect rival of the Kia Carens Clavis EV would be the BYD eMAX 7 which starts at Rs 28.42 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This clearly shows that Kia has a completely empty field to play and there’s no direct rival to stop it. Had Maruti been in the game, it would have made for a great battle.

KIA CARENS CLAVIS EV FEATURES

The Carens Clavis EV does look promising. It will come with a claimed range of up to 490km on a full charge and is expected to share its battery pack & powertrain with the Hyundai Creta Electric. The Creta Electric is available with 42kWh & 51.4kWh battery pack options.

Moreover, the Carens Clavis EV will sport a new floating-style centre console with rest of its interior elements shared with the ICE Carens Clavis. It will sport a bumper-mounted charging port and other EV-specific elements to distinguish itself from the regular Carens Clavis. One interesting thing to note is that the Carens Clavis EV has fog lamps.

As far as pricing is concerned, we expect the Kia Carens Clavis EV to start from somewhere around Rs 18 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
