India’s Favourite SUV Gets Costlier!

Indians are crazy about SUVs! How do we know that? Out of the top 25 selling cars of May, 16 were SUVs. Now, there are multiple categories of SUVs from micro SUVs to full-size SUVs. However, there is one particular SUV which Indians truly are crazy about. We are talking about the 2025 Toyota Fortuner and it has recently received a price hike. Let’s dive into the details.

Toyota has hiked prices of some variants of the Fortuner and Legender, with the 4X2 Petrol Automatic receiving the biggest price hike of Rs 68,000. The prices of 4X2 Diesel Manual, 4X4 Diesel Manual and 4X2 Diesel Automatic variants have been hiked by Rs 40,000. Even the GR-S, Legender 4X4 Diesel MT and 4X4 Diesel AT have received a price hike of Rs 40,000. Here are the updated prices (priced mentioned are on-road, Mumbai) –

Fortuner 4X2 Petrol AT – Rs 43.17 lakh to Rs 43.35 lakh

Fortuner 4X2 Diesel MT – Rs 44.72 lakh to 45.95 lakh

Fortuner 4X4 Diesel MT – Rs 49.65 lakh to 49.83 lakh

Fortuner 4X2 Diesel AT – Rs 47.46 lakh to 48.76 lakh

GR-S – Rs 63.48 lakh

Legender 4X4 Diesel MT – Rs 56.29 lakh

Legender 4X4 Diesel AT – Rs 54.07 lakh to Rs 56.77 lakh

2025 Toyota Fortuner Mild Hybrid

Toyota recently launched NeoDrive (mild-hybrid) variants of the Fortuner and the Legender. The Fortuner NeoDrive starts at Rs 54.32 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) while the Legender NeoDrive starts at Rs 60.78 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

The NeoDrive variants are powered by the same 2.8-litre diesel engine mated to a 48V mild-hybrid setup (202bhp & 500Nm of torque). With this setup, the Fortuner will be able to offer better mileage and engine refinement.
In terms of features, Toyota added few new elements with the mild-hybrid update viz. smart idle start/stop, a 360-degree camera, traction control, wireless phone charger & Neo Drive boost-assist.
