Maruti Baleno is the most popular hatchback in its segment registering bumper sales month after month. There’s another car in the segment which is technically the Maruti Baleno but in a different avatar and sadly, most people don’t even consider it. We are talking about the Toyota Glanza. This car has received a new update which has made it safer. Let’s discuss the 2025 Toyota Glanza in detail.
2025 Toyota Glanza – What’s New?

Toyota has updated its premium hatchback Glanza making it safer than before, right from the most affordable model. The 2025 Toyota Glanza now gets 6 airbags as standard from the base E MT variant. Toyota has added additional airbags without a price hike, which means the base variant is still priced at Rs 8.15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
What’s more surprising is that Maruti, which manufactures both the Baleno and Glanza, doesn’t offer the Baleno with 6 airbags as standard! Maruti’s complete Arena lineup, which includes cars like the Alto K10, Wagon R, Celerio, etc., now gets 6 airbags as standard. You’ll be shocked to know that even the Maruti Eeco now gets 6 airbags as standard, but not the Baleno. What is Maruti exactly thinking?
Apart from the safety update, Toyota has also launched the Glanza ‘Prestige Edition’ which is basically a limited-period complimentary accessory package that users can avail until July 31st. The accessory list includes door visors, body side moulding with chrome & black accents, rear lamp, ORVM, lower grille & fender garnish, rear skid plate and illuminated door sills.
2025 Toyota Glanza Sales

The Toyota Glanza has been a decent performer for the Japanese brand in the country if we look at model-wise sales of Toyota in general. However, in comparison to the Maruti Baleno, the Glanza is a slow-seller. For context, Maruti sold 8966 units of the Baleno in June 2025 while Toyota sold 2938 units of the Glanza in the same month.
The biggest reason behind this is the fact that most buyers do not realise that the Glanza is technically the Baleno, but in a different look. As mentioned above, both these cars are manufactured by Maruti. For people planning to buy a Maruti Baleno, it’s recommended that they check out the Glanza. They might just get a better deal with the Glanza, since it has lower sales figures and Toyota wouldn’t mind giving a decent offer to boost its sales.
