Will This Tata Nexon Rival Save Hyundai?

Share

Hyundai was India’s second most popular carmaker for almost two decades. Tata & Mahindra, however, have managed to dethrone the South Korean brand and push it down to the 4th spot. Hyundai has since been struggling to regain its lost spot, and with no imminent launches planned, there might still be a while before Hyundai sees some improvement in its current standing. With that being said, there is one Tata Nexon rival which could save Hyundai. Let’s know more about this Tata Nexon rival in detail.

Tata Nexon Rival To Save Hyundai?

Tata Nexon Rival

The Hyundai Venue has been a popular rival of the Tata Nexon, and at one point gave tough competition to the Tata SUV. The Venue had even managed to outsell the Tata Nexon in terms of monthly sales figures multiple times. However, with the competition stiffening and the Hyundai Venue not being able to retain its impact, the sales have seen a consistent drop. For reference, Hyundai sold 10,441 units, 7952 units & 7520 units of the Venue in March, April & May respectively. To compare, Tata sold 16,366 units, 15,457 units & 13,096 units of the Nexon in March, April & May respectively.

New Hyundai Venue Design

However, there are high chances Hyundai could make a strong comeback. Why do we say that? Hyundai has been testing the Venue facelift in India. The Venue facelift has been spotted on multiple occasions and we now know a fair bit about this SUV. To begin with, the Venue facelift will sport a front-end design which will be in line with Hyundai’s latest design philosophy – split LED DRLs, vertical dual-pod headlamps and a big grille with rectangular inserts.

New Hyundai Venue spy shot

With rivals like the Tata Nexon and the Kia Sonet sporting an aggressive design, the Hyundai does fall back in this department. With that being said, the spy shots do look promising and we expect the Hyundai Venue facelift to come with an aggressive design too. This new design might improve the Venue’s sales numbers, ultimately helping Hyundai in regaining lost ground.

New Hyundai Venue Rear Profile

This Tata Nexon rival is said to see a massive upgrade in the interior as well. The dashboard of the current Venue is functional but is not inspirational and this might change with the new one as reports suggest that it will get a heavy dashboard makeover. Apart from this, we expect to see a lot of new elements like updated seating upholstery, an HD 360-degree camera, a bigger touchscreen and Level 2 ADAS.

The Venue facelift will most likely sport the current powertrain & gearbox layout. A 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated with multiple gearbox options could be on offer. This Tata Nexon rival is said to see a launch sometime around the festive season this year.
