Oldest Honda City Rival Spotted With New Design!

How often do you hear people planning to buy a non-SUV car in India? Even you yourself might choose an SUV over any hatchback or sedan we have in the country. Having said that, few brands are still trying to keep the sedan segment alive. It is that segment where the Honda City has been ruling for 20 years! Fast forward to 2025, one of its oldest rivals – Hyundai Verna is also alive & in the race! That said, the Verna is now set to get a facelift after it received a major upgrade in 2023. So, let’s talk more about the Hyundai Verna facelift.

Hyundai Verna Facelift

HYUNDAI VERNA FACELIFT REAR

After the Verna received a major upgrade in 2023, the oldest Honda City rival is all set to receive another facelift. We however do not expect the car to receive any significant updates. We have recently received spy shots that hint at some cosmetic changes on the outside. The test car is completely covered with camouflage. But, expect design changes like – redesigned front & rear bumpers, redesigned front grille, tweaked LED headlamps & some changes could be made to the LED tail lamps. The side profile will largely remain unchanged but we can expect new alloy wheels on the facelift! Oh, and would you love to see the connected LED DRLs to be continued on the facelift?

Similar to the exterior, we do not expect any major design change on the inside. The dashboard design will largely remain the same as the current model. However, we can see new materials to enhance the premiumness of the cabin. Even the colour theme is likely to be updated with a similarity to the Hyundai Creta cabin. What about features? Well, if Hyundai is kind enough, the brand might offer a bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen system, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Harman Kardon sound system, rear ventilated seats and more. All of these features have recently debuted on its sister brand Kia with the Syros and Carens!

Engine Specifications

HYUNDAI VERNA FACELIFT

Hyundai Verna is currently available with 2 petrol engine options. Talking of which, the sedan gets a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine (113bhp & 144Nm) and a powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine (158bhp & 253Nm). Both the engines get manual gearbox as standard. However, the NA engine comes CVT as automatic, while the turbo petrol engine gets a 7-speed DCT gearbox option. What to expect with the Hyundai Verna facelift? Well, both of these engines will make their way to facelift without any noticeable changes!
