Indians love SUVs! And the ones that absolutely love to dominate others on the road find their favourites in Mahindra Thars & Scorpios or say, Toyota Fortuners. The ones with even bigger wallets pick SUVs like Range Rovers & Toyota Land Cruisers.
But tables seem to have turned on the badmosh-kind as UP police has now acquired an SUV which will clearly show goons WHO THE REAL BOSS IS.
P.S. – There’s a catch here though!
UP Police flaunts the Land Rover Defender

Recently, a reel shared by Auto Journal India showed the Land Rover Defender being used as a police vehicle in Uttar Pradesh. This white colour Defender with UP registration plates, police stickers and lights, is ready to escort some VVIP. Interestingly, this SUV is not owned by UP police but rather has been provided by the VVIP to his security team to escort him without any compromise. This is very similar to what India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani has done with his security escort; beefing it up with G Wagons & Range Rovers.
What makes the Defender so special?

Jaguar Land Rover India registered record-breaking sales figures in FY25 (April 2024 to March 2025) with a total of 6183 cars being sold. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Defenders contributed the biggest chunk to this milestone.
What does the Defender have that works in its favour so well? The answer is LEGACY. Defenders have been here since 1948 and the current one has successfully carried forward, the essence of its moniker. The Land Rover Defender looks minimalistic yet muscular with strong contour lines that give it a very strong road presence.

Not just design, the Defender also shines in the luxury department, thanks to high quality materials used in the interiors to availability of many premium features. One area, however, where the Defender has a strong edge against its rivals is its ability to take on any extreme terrain. You all must remember this Land Rover Defender advertisement which was released during the promotion of ‘No Time To Die’. The advertisement really showed the world what this SUV is capable of doing.
All of this comes together to make the Land Rover Defender a popular choice in its category and yes, not just adventurers, even urban buyers love it.
